BioI live in Lakewood CA. For reference sake, it's between Los Angeles and Long Beach. That places me only 20 minutes away from Disneyland, the second happiest place on earth. I have an annual pass, and go there several times a month.
I am slowly trying to wean myself away from my job as a high school English teacher. I keep telling my school that I'm not coming back, but then I keep coming back. This year I only taught part time in an effort to write half time and teach half time. What I found out is that three classes tend to take as much time as five.
I've been writing for about two years now. I started when I attended Orson Scott Card's Literary Bootcamp. In that week, I learned more about writing than I did in all my years of college English. Scott's positive comments about my writing gave me the confidence to finish my stories and then to send them out to the cold, hard world. I have not been published yet, but I did get one positive, non-form letter from F&SF and I was a finalist for the Writer's of the Future contest.
